The NextSense Centre for Innovation is the national headquarters for NextSense, purpose-built on the Macquarie University campus for people with hearing and vision loss. Burgtec was single source for the full furniture and workstation supply across this combined educational and office facility, delivered on a 20-week program. Built by ADCO for $75 million and designed by WMK Architecture, the two interconnected pavilions bring national operations, health and disability services, education and research together with a school for up to 120 students, an integrated preschool, therapy rooms and a purpose-built audiology wing. Every element had to suit users with sensory disability, which made accessibility and acoustic performance as important as the look of the furniture.
