The NSW Rugby Union Centre of Excellence is the sport's home base in New South Wales, built at the UNSW David Phillips Sports Complex in Daceyville. Burgtec supplied the workstations, seating and tables package on a 12-week program across a two-storey facility that houses administration for NSWRU and the Waratahs alongside a 500m2 gym, medical and rehabilitation facilities, a team theatrette and recovery spaces. Designed by Cox Architecture and built by Kane Constructions with recycled local brick and a long lightweight roof, the building was funded through the NSW Government's Centres of Excellence Program. The design deliberately blurs the line between staff and player, professional and grassroots, so the workplace furniture had to sit comfortably inside a high-performance sporting facility.
