The University of Newcastle brought its School of Humanities and Social Sciences together from several separate buildings into one refurbished home on the Callaghan campus. Burgtec fully specified the space alongside SHAC Architects, covering workstations, seating and tables across breakout areas, consultation rooms, meeting rooms and open touchdown zones. The completed workspace was adopted by the University as the prototype for future HASS spaces across the campus, so the furniture had to establish a standard other buildings could be measured against. Works were staged around a live campus, keeping teaching and research running throughout.
