Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport is a landmark moment for Australian infrastructure. Designed by Woods Bagot, Cox Architecture and Zaha Hadid Architects, WSI is Sydney's only 24/7 airport and will serve as a key gateway to the world.
Delivered in partnership with Multiplex, Burgtec was appointed to design, prototype and manufacture all departure gate and retail, food and beverage terminal furniture for the airport. The seating and furnishing solutions were designed to meet the airport's standards for durability, comfort and aesthetics while celebrating the character of the landscape.
From the red soils of Badgerys Creek to the blue and green hues leading to the mountains — furniture colours and materials were drawn from the surrounding environment, resulting in pieces that feel native to their place.
